WHO WE ARE

We are PUC Team Mexico 2019, a student group of Mechanical Engineers and a Social Worker! We are working with a community in Santiago Suchilquitongo, Mexico to improve the current drying process of mesquite pods and to enhance the storage of the mesquite flour after it has been milled.

Projects with Under-served Communities, or PUC, is a unique program at the University of Texas at Austin combines the two challenges of community need and student enrichment in an innovative project-based, service-learning collaboration between the International Office, the Cockrell School of Engineering, and the School of Social Work. Students in the PUC program learn project management, scope and change management, risk assessment, and construction principles and apply them in an international setting as they work with local communities to define, design, and implement engineering project.

During the fall semester we will focus on fundraising and the initial phases of our project designs. We need your support to provide a sustainable project in our community in Santiago Suchilquitongo! In the spring semester we will continue in the design process, testing, and prototyping. By the end of the spring semester we will have our projects and logistics completed. We will then implement and assist in building our projects with the community in Santiago Suchilquitongo!

Each of us come from various backgrounds but all have the desire to use our technical and soft skills to promote economic growth in this community. Click on the names of each team member below to learn more about us!
